Visualising community-facing masterplans for Timboon and Simpson
The Challenge
Timboon and Simpson are key service townships located in Corangamite Shire. Across the Western Victorian hinterland region, affordable land and housing supply is under pressure. As an important service centres for the region, Timboon and Simpson play a vital role in supporting key workers and the growing service economy. In 2021, Council was successful in receiving a $1M grant from the Victorian Government to support the delivery of a new residential development in Timboon to support a growing township. A concept masterplan has since been developed for the site.
CoFutures was engaged to prepare a suite of desktop-published plans that help to communicate the vision for the site and translate complex technical information in a simple and clear format for community consultation.
What We Did
- Reviewed and interpreted technical plans and concepts produced by Council that showed the proposed masterplans for the land in Timboon and Simpson.
- Designed and prepared a series of desktop-published masterplan illustrations that were easy for the community to read and understand.
- Packaging and issuing the final maps for use by Council in its community engagement process and marketing collateral.
Outcomes
The masterplan illustrations will be used by Council to help clearly communicate the vision for these two sites, and contribute to the next stages of the ‘Unlocking Housing - Timboon and Simpson’ projects.
